I loved the movie. But when I bought it it said "new" and it look new. The wrapping paper was a little bit lose and that was what made me suspicious. When I went to watch the movie, I had this pop up. SEE PHOTO

Captain America: Civil War is one of the most engaging entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ("MCU"). Most notably, it poses the question: Are superheroes ever held accountable for the collateral damage they leave in their wake? This serves as the main conflict for the film, and brings many of the core Avengers to the forefront. Additionally, we are introduced to Black Panther and Spider-Man, and the climactic battle is both creative and thrilling, giving the latter two newcomers adequate time in the spotlight. With a denouement in the vein of The Empire Strikes Back between the now-ideologically-opposed Captain America and Iron Man, it's going to be interesting seeing how things lead up to Avengers: Infinity War.

While I generally enjoy the MCU films, not all of them break any new storytelling ground and have a tendency to recycle plot points. After feeling a little underwhelmed with the tonally-scattered Avengers: Age of Ultron, I approached this entry cautiously optimistic, and I got the superhero ensemble film I had hoped for. While Civil War is technically Captain America's film, it is very much a fully-fleshed ensemble superhero film, where Cap's main conflict serves as the foundation for the other heroes' conflict over the political action the world governments have taken to restrain their powers. Aside from the stellar acting, the fight scenes are impeccably choreographed and the special effects cutting edge.

Now, the Blu-ray: The image is what one would expect from a modern, special-effects extravaganza. Which is to say - Bold colors, balanced black levels, and strong detail. Aside from the obvious showcasing with the superhero suits and makeup, Civil War has some impressive cinematography; aerial shots of cities and landscapes get some additional mileage from this exceptionally clear transfer.

The sound is DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1, with DVS and Dolby 5.1 French and Spanish language tracks. Again, very strong across the board with appropriate bombast and directionality with explosions and projectile weapons. There were times I felt the dialogue was a little on the "loud"-end, but it's nevertheless clear and intelligible. The music is also equally impressive, and never drowned out by the film's chaotic action sequences.

This review is based on the Target exclusive, which in addition to the standard features (the same as in the general release), contains a behind-the-scenes featurette on Ant-Man and Winter Soldier that is available as a Disney Movie Rewards digital download. Among the standard extras, we get: United We Stand, Divided We Fall: The Making of Captain America: Civil War - A two-part documentary covering multiple production, and story aspects of the making of the film. Captain America: The Road to Civil War - A featurette about Captain America's role within this installment of the MCU. Iron Man: The Road to Civil War - A similar featurette, focused instead on Iron Man. Open Your Mind: Marvel's Doctor Strange Exclusive Sneak Peek - A run-of-the-mill promotional featurette on the upcoming Doctor Strange film. Four deleted & extended scenes that aren't incredibly remarkable. An entertaining gag reel. Finally, we get an audio commentary from the directors and the writers.

Fans of MCU will want to add this one to their collection. Those who are curious or unfamiliar/wary of MCU will want to at least rent it; I highly recommend Civil War for its intense action, and engaging storyline with contemporary political overtones.

Marvel studios have finally outdone themselves with Captain America: Civil War,the film is the collimation of eight years of fantastical film making, this film handles it's characters in the best of ways by expanding and developing the already introduced Marvel superheroes that we have come to know and love, whilst ingeniously introducing new characters into the midst of the Marvel Film Universe whom all deliver a breath taking performance in their respective roles. The plot focuses on Steve Rogers/Captain America leading a newly formed task force of super-powered heroes; The Avengers into battle in their ongoing mission to restore peace and justice to a chaotic world, while a reluctant and guilt consumed Tony Stark/Iron man sides with the American government to put the avengers 'into check'. The two's different ideologies result in a civil war between the earth's mightiest heroes, feeding our eyes and ears with awe filled action scenes and a superbly executed plot. By any standards, Captain America three is definitely a 'dream come true' and a new record set by the Russo brothers (the directors) in terms of Comic-book inspired film making, undoubtedly a 'must-see', I'm giving it a score of: 9/10 - 'DAMN NEAR PERFECTION'.

Purchased DVD new from Amazon.com on September 03, 2018.
Received DVD on September 07, 2018.
    Have viewed feature three times.
Started viewing again today, December 07, 2018, and playback started stuttering halfway through feature.
Ejected disc from player and examined only to discover visible coffee color of 'disc rot' - see image.
Seems that more and more standard DVDs are succumbing to this manufacturing failure.
Convenient that the issue only developed after the Amazon return window had elapsed.
I wonder how long the new blu-ray DVDs will last once they are superseded by the next medium.

The item I ordered was a Blu Ray/DvD combo version of Captain America: The First Avenger. The item is listed as such, and the picture of them item even has a blue line reading "BLU-RAY + DVD +DIGITAL COPY." I understand not to expect a valid code for a Blu-Ray that is almost five years old, but the product came with the exact artwork displayed, but no DVD. In fact, the case only had a slot for the Blu-Ray, meaning the artwork and Blu Ray disc were put into a different case. I've ordered from Zoverstock before and was very satified, and even now, I hold no regrets from my Amazon purchases, but I bought the Blu Ray/DVD combo. If that literally was not what was in stock, why advertise it as such? I like the product and wouldn't want to return it, but even if I wanted to I couldn't. I threw away the original packaging, because, silly me, I expected the product to be as advertised! won't be ordering from Zoverstock again.

My item LITERALLY did not meet expectations. My item LITERALLY did not meet expectations.

Love Marvel movies, this is a great movie!

    Great movie, arrived as promised.

I love the movie but purchased the Blue-Ray, DVD, Digital copy item. It arrived on time undamaged but the Digital Copy is no longer valid and went out of date on 10/25/2012. I purchased this specifically for the DVD and Digital copy. DON'T purchase this item if you expect a digital copy. Very disappointed as this was going to be a Christmas Gift.

DON'T purchase. Digital Code not valid after 10/25/2012

A young man, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) wants to join the military. Unfortunately, this is during World War II and he is deemed to be 4F. He doesn't really want to kill Nazis just thwart bullies. He gets his chance through the efforts of Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci,) who fattens him up a bit through injections and extreme infusions of blue light energy. Now comes the question of how will he use his newfound abilities, for good, for evil, or for frivolity?

Most of us already know the story of Capt. America many of watched programs or read the comics. So, we already have a preconception of how this should come about and what he should be doing as the superhero. However, I suggest you set those preconceptions aside and watch the movie for what it is. You will find that it is entertaining, fast-paced yet slows down every once in a while, so that Steve Rogers can look into Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) eyes and wonder what it would be like if the world was different.

Being a little bit on the cynical side you would almost think that this movie is really an outlet for out of work actors. We see many of our favorites and a few that may become favorites. Tommy Lee Jones looks a little bit like he might've melted in his old age but we still remember him from that fantastic movie "Volcano." Every time I see the bad guy okay the Crimson Skull (Hugo Weaving) I think of "Lord of the Rings." But it's too bad that Stanley Tucci did not get a longer part as he is a very flexible actor. You should really see Stanley in the movie “Undercover Blues.”

I only saw the Blu-ray version so I cannot comment on any peculiarities of the other versions. And watching the credits they explained that this is really just the first movie of the series of movies.

Great movie to add to our Marvel movie collection.

Great movie, arrived on time as promised!

I have not yet had a chance to try to watch the movie. I wanted to immediately report that this disc was clearly broken or cracked at some point and was later repaired and resold as "very good" but since the center of the disc is the most abused part going in and out of the case I am dissappointed that someone would find this to be an acceptable product to sell. In my opinion it should have been disclosed in the notes that it was repaired, and/or marked as only good condition if the film works but disc is in disrepair.

    (Side note
(Side note: I did NOT purchase this movie, though I did pay a couple bucks to rent it on Amazon. I assume that's where the "Verified Purchase" label comes from. But I do not consider myself qualified to identify this review as a "Verified Purchase," and if I can remove that label I'd love to know how.)

Twice I tried to watch this movie. It is not a bad movie. I can absolutely see why it gets the praise it does.

But I could not stomach two hours of that obnoxious Gary Stu Steve Rogers. Right from the start, he jeopardizes the lives of 20-30 hostages, to prove to one insignificant henchman that he can win a fight without his shield and helmet. It two one taunt from this nobody to get Steve to do that. Steve then chews out Black Widow for "jeopardizing the mission" because she stopped to collect intel on the enemy, and then tantrums to Nick Fury over the fact that commanding officers are not required to immediately share all info with the glorious Steve Rogers right away. Sure, all the *other* soldiers have to accept the chain of command, but he is not some peasant, he's Captain ****ing America!

This blatant hypocrisy and entitlement is never addressed (at least in the half of the movie I managed to watch). Instead, the movie rewards Steve's asinine attitude, by warping the universe to prove all of his opinions "right." Steve and Nick disagree about security. The day of the argument, the security turns out to be a giant plot by Hydra to conquer the world. See what happens when you disagree with Gary Stu?

This would be obnoxious enough for any character, but in *Marvel,* which usually specializes in well-drawn, flawed characters who are forced to confront their own flaws, it's particularly irritating and distracting. Especially when it's centered on the character who we are supposed to see as the "pure" team leader, the genuine "hero" to Black Widow, Tony Stark and Nick Fury's "antiheroes."

All other characters were very likable, which is why I made two attempts to watch this. Nick Fury, Black Widow, Falcon, Maria Hill, and Bucky--god, poor Bucky--I wanted to see the movie for those characters. But seeing this movie's version of Steve Rogers was starting to become hazardous to my mental health, so I had to stop.

I shouldn't be writing this review at all, as I've been trying to avoid anything Captain America related. To be clear, I like him just fine in his first movie and the first "Avengers" film from 2012. But here and in "Civil War," all I see is Edward Cullen with a shield. When I want a pure, idealistic hero from Marvel, I'll watch "Black Panther," "Thor" or "Spiderman: Homecoming." Those guys, unlike Steve, are forced to actually earn their reputations, both in-universe and from the audience.

Although I did not read comic books about Captain America, I enjoyed both films and the Avengers. Captain America is unique. He is the symbol of America and shows pride. Also the supporting casts added depth and intrigue to the movie. I can't wait to see Captain America 3.

I ordered this one specifically for the look only to not receive the slip cover. Great movie otherwise.

I agree with many that it is the BEST Marvel movie to date (yes, even better than Guardians Of The Galaxy). The funny thing is I HATED the first one but Winter Soldier is head and shoulders above the original and above ALL other comic-book movies, hands down. It actually has a well-written plot and great action sequences. As much as I loathe CGI, the effects were top notch. The story seemed to be almost ripped from the headlines since it deals with 24/7 surveillance/tracking of citizens and drones. I LOVED the Falcon character (Anthony Mackie did an excellent job) and hope they will bring him back in more Marvel movies. Also, Frank Grillo did a great job. I would say more but don't want to spoil it for future films. It absolutely impressed the hell out of me (especially since I don't really care for the acting of Chris Evans--he's usually the weak link in any film he's in). Overall, though, SUCH a good, entertaining movie. I bought the blu ray as soon as it came out.

Another case of disc rot Another case of disc rot

I bought the Collector's Edition(Blu-ray 3D + Blu-Ray+ Digital HD) on october 30th,sold and shipped by amazon, like previous marvel blu-ray movies it includes a really nice slipcover with metalic paint where some pictures and letters are embossed, the 2-disc case is the usual blue color, the digital HD was inlcude in a card that looks awesome. I leave some photos to have a better look.

This movie was awesome! Marvel is really putting every effort they've got into making these movies better and better. Better stories, better action, better special effects. It's really worth the money when you spend that money to see the movie in IMAX 3D.

    Blu ray slip cover.

  2. Amazing product, when it arrived it was wrapped up, it was new and the discs were brand new as well as the cases and the box it come they are in, what is in the picture is what comes to your house, i was skeptical to buy at first but I'm very happy i did all movies work perfectly fine on my Vizio Blu ray 3D player. would've loved if spanish was on all of the discs but its only available on the blu ray 2D ones (each movie comes with a Blu-Ray 3D and a Blu-Ray 2D version) overall I'm glad i bought it, very good deal i would recommend buying!!! i have also added images so you can see what your buying.they work on all blu ray players I tried on my ps3 and ps4 and they work.

Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!! Super Exciting!!!!

Kids have been asking about these movies as they are some of their favorite superhero movies and I agree with them...Captain America is a great hero's hero.

Each of the discs comes with 2-4 extra featurettes that range in length from 5minutes to the longest ones on Civil War which felt 20--30minutes each. Nothing like the 15hrs of extras on each of the extended edition Lord of the Rings, but few movies are to that level. So, for a superhero movie series we were happy with the extras provided.

The only "extra" we didn't like was on Civil War and it was a big long commercial for Doctor Strange, which had nothing to do with Captain America or the Avengers. At least all the other extras were Captain America focused on the other discs.

Playback on my Sony Blu Ray worked perfectly. I was able to pause, fast forward, rewind and skip to scenes without issue. Not my first time purchasing a UK import and again this did not disappoint and I appreciate the savings over the US release. I paid $42 for the set versus $20-$25 for each movie individually. I feel like it was totally worth it.

Some of the most family friendly of the Marvel movies, though Tommy Lee Jones likes to say S.O.B. Otherwise, all the Captain America movies are pretty tame and safe for younger audiences too.

OVERALL: Watching the movies back-to-back was best, as you more easily remember things in the first movie that come up again in the third movie. Nicely done writers!

The First Avenger is a great origin story and leaves the final demise of the Red Skull in a way that he could return some day.
Unlike some series, Winter Soldier (movie 2) does not lag, but amps the intensity and action over the first movie. And Civil War (movie 3) is even more fun as it feels like another Avengers movie. Overall very enjoyable series that we can enjoy in the comfort of our home with great clarity and sound on blu ray. Worth getting!

At first I was very hesitant to get this because of some of the negative reviews regarding the discs not working and wasn't sure whether these would work for me (I live in Canada). However, I took my chance and my shipment just arrived today. Everything looks to be in very good condition. I tested it out on my PS4 and all 3 discs work perfectly fine! This is definitely a must have for any marvel fan!
